Up and coming walk: Cheetham Close and Turton Heights

After much time spent using Google to find a nice local walk which I should be able to do in less than six hours or so I have decided not to have the usual Winter Hill adventure this Easter Monday as in the past:

  1. Spring 2010 – The moors caught fire
  2. Summer 2010 – My boots fell apart
  3. Spring 2013 – An heatwave tried to dehydrate me to death

No, this madness has to stop, this year I have decided to visit the other side of Bolton – Turton. Thanks to the excellent My Pennines web site I have a very good guide to a walk that should be just 990′ in ascension over six and an half miles (a doddle compared to my usual West Pennines excursions) over terrain that will probably be easy on the feet…but probably soggy!
